my horse is 16hh he takes size 80 or 81.

7′ is 84″. What you need to do is measure your horse from the center of his chest around the widest part of his shoulder to the center of his tail around the widest part of his ****. 2 or 3 inches too big is ok. 2 or 3 inches too small is not.

84″ is pretty standard for a 16′2 horse. You’ll probably be ok, but you should measure your boy just to be sure.

i have a kwpn 16.3 and he is 6ft9. a 7ft would be ok for my boy. so try it. it doesnt matter to much if a tad big. just not swamped.

    you should be ok.
    but is the horse 16Hh
    or is it 16.2Hh,
if it is 16.2 it should fit.
we have some mares that are only a slight build and they are ok with 6′6.

Measure your horse with an ordinary tape measure – run it from the middle of his chest to the point of his buttock. This should give you the size you need.
A bit big is better than no rug but one that is a lot too big will be likely to twist and could cause an accident.

    ( my horse is 18.2 and takes a 7ft rug, but my friend’s tbx is 6ft 6)

You’ll have to measure your horse, My 16.2hh wears a 6′ rug so he’d be swamped in a 7′ one, however a friend’s 16hh wears 7′ – it depends on the horse. You can get cheap rugs off ebay, because if your horse gets cold he will lose condition.

it depends on the horse, this website may help

all you need to do is measure your horse
my horse is 14′3/15hh and she has a 6ft3 rug

my 15.2hh tb has a 6 foot rug, my 16hh belgian warrmblood has a 6′3″ rug, and my 17.2hh belgian warmblood has a 7′3″ rug, i would say that a 7′ rug would be a touch too big for a tb.

My thoroughbred is about 15.3-16hh and he takes a 6′ rug, however my 14.1 pony takes a 5′6”.
There’s a brilliant rug available in holmstead in Kildare for €100 which is good and thick and has a neck cover attached. My veteran pony wears it throughout the winter. I think it’s called the buffalo. I’ll get a link…:#

These rugs are brilliant! And even better it’s just down to €50. I think they have a size guide so you can have a look to see what size might suit your horse. At €50 I think ‘ll be going up there to get one too!

    Good luck!
