YOU ARE STUPID, you can find a great horse for under that price and they are not all young horses. I paid $600.00 for my purebred 15hh, 10 year old, TWH mare, that is BROKE, so well, that a beginner rider could ride her no problem. If you have not taken lessons for a while you DO NOT need your own horse. Dat is not a word, try learning to spell "that" first. Size should not contribute to the price of a horse. So what if it has won 700 bucks, you should look at the words "HAS WON". It does not mean that it is going to win hands down. You can find a horse ALLOT cheaper if you, deflate your head, listen to your parents, and look for a horse that is within your price range. I **** to be rude but, I truly **** it when people only look at the price of a horse and not the horse.
If this is your first I would buy a bead broke, beginners horse. It will help you build up confidence.
Hope it Helps.

Don't you have a second hand tack store in your area?
We have a few here in Perth.
Why not head into Horseland or Europa and ask them, they should definitely know (unless they're stingy buggers and want you to buy untouched stuff!)
Another way is to have a look in the news papers.

Have you been to Horseland? They have pretty good synthetic wintec saddles for pretty cheap.

Usually when you buy a horse (already trained) they can sometimes be nice enough to give you his tack at only a little extra.

However, if you do need to buy a saddle, remember to get a qualified saddle fitter in to fit your saddle perfectly to your horse. Especially if it's second hand, it would have been fit to a horse of different shape.

Hope this helps =)

My thoroughbred is about 15.3-16hh and he takes a 6' rug, however my 14.1 pony takes a 5'6''.
There's a brilliant rug available in holmstead in Kildare for €100 which is good and thick and has a neck cover attached. My veteran pony wears it throughout the winter. I think it's called the buffalo. I'll get a link...:#

These rugs are brilliant! And even better it's just down to €50. I think they have a size guide so you can have a look to see what size might suit your horse. At €50 I think 'll be going up there to get one too!

Good luck!

Hi there, yes you can put 2 blankets on your horse at the same time. But beware, If they are too heavy he will try and remove them. Or even if he gets too hot. Remember, horses have different body temperature to humans. So what we think is cold isn't always to our horses. Plus horses tend to use mud from dams etc to keep warm as when mud dries its like insulation to them.

No problem, if he's not warm enough just add another rug, extra layers trap air and insulate better anyway. I know someone who's horse is currently wearing 3 rugs ( mind you he is a wuss - the horse I mean !)

my 15.2hh tb has a 6 foot rug, my 16hh belgian warrmblood has a 6'3" rug, and my 17.2hh belgian warmblood has a 7'3" rug, i would say that a 7' rug would be a touch too big for a tb.
