Would You Board Your Horse at This Stable?
Would you board your horse at this stable, and how much would you be willing to pay?
I am looking at a stable that I think is really nice… here are the things it has…
-12 by 12 stalls with lights
-nice sliding stall doors
-high quality feed 2x per day
-high quality hay
-supplements fed at no extra charge
-blankets changed at no extra charge
-all day turnout in groups of 1 to 4
-only 20 horses
-brand new indoor wash stall with hot/cold water
-safe, clean aisles
-heated tack rooms- bring your own trunk
-worming rotation every two months
-medicine will be given at no extra charge
-brand new indoor arena
-outdoor riding area
-nice jumps to use yourself
-trailers
-trainers who you can try out- two regulars, eventers, stadium jumpers, plus two olympic riders
-4H and pony club
-involvement in shows-local and larger ones
-24 hour access
-exactly 40 seconds from home
-very safe pastures
-plastic water and feed buckets
-rubber matting in stalls with shavings
-safely stored grain
-kind, knowledgeable owner
-wide variety of disiplines represented- stadium jumpers, eventers, dressage, trail riders.
-farrier and vet schedule.

Based on that information alone, I wouldn’t mind boarding there. I hope you do realize though, that the supplements and medicine are only ADMINISTERED with no extra charge. You still have to pay for them… you probably knew that but I just wanted to double check.
Sounds like a very nice stable. Boarding rates vary from place to place, but around here I would board there for $300-$375. With the low end being minimal pasture board, the high end being the stall board.
Sounds like a nice place to me. My biggest question would be what are the barn hours like? can you bring your own coach? what wormers are used? what is the size of the arena? are lessons madatory? what kind of grains are fed and are they welcome to whichever grain your horse is currently on (for instance if your horse gets a certain grain that is not fed by the barn)? can you bring your own vet or do you have to use the barn’s vet? can you bring your own farrier or do you have to use the barn’s farrier?
Of course, the most important thing is to actually visit the barn yourself. Things can seem really nice when listed, but it can be the complete opposite when you actually visit.
Does this actually exist in reality? Sounds like fantasy to me!
That seems like a very nice barn, and very close to your home! Although, how much I would be WILLING to pay and how much they charge is differnt. i would say about 400 or 500 $ a month.
if you lived in madisonville we know a place that is great we board our horses their but i dont know other ones than that
ya it sounds good
omg totally!!!! that sounds so much nicer than my barn
-itty bitty stall
-ok food
-good hay
-no supple,ants fed
-no blanket change
-all day turnout, in field with all males
-like 50+ horses
-outdoor area they say is a wash stall
-no tack room
-no worming
-no indoor arena
-jumps only for use during lessons
-24 hour access
ok theres a lot more bad stuff but ill just stop there.
i think that place sounds nice so i would board there but its up to you. if the trainers are nice and you want to, go for it!
Yeh, it sounds grate I would definetly board there go for it!!!
That stable sounds really nice, and I would board my horse there. I pay 100 dollars a month for my board but I board with a family friend so that’s why ive got a good price. I would pay 250-300 dollars.
I hope this helps!!!
it’d depend on the cost. . . really. . . with all that i’d expect to pay alot so i’d pass on it. i enjoy a simple place and set up, so another reason i’d pass. But that’s just me, if you’re into all that and can afforded i don’t see it as a bad place.
I don’t know where these other people live…must be really rural for those prices. Around here a set-up like that will run $575-$650/month. The further up north you’d move along the East coast, the price would adjust to $700+.
Once you have olympic riders and trainers you’re talking about a completely different level of riding and training experience. That will always drive the price up, as it is a huge advantage and opportunity for serious riders who want to compete.
Access to an indoor arena always drives the price up. The rest sounds pretty standard…it is where I live. Proven high-level trainers, multiple riding arenas for different disciplines, and an indoor arena is where the pricing point comes into play.
I’d want to know what high quality grain and hay means, specifically. Some people think sweet feed is high quality simply because they mix it themselves. It’s not. More importantly, I would want to know that if I have a specific high quality brand and type I feed, will that be fed to my horse with no fuss or is there going to be a problem.
What I would pay and what I can afford are two different things. If it suits you and you can afford it, then pay it.
Yes, i would it sounds nice, but it’s probably expensive. If money were no object i definitely would.
That sounds extremely nice! plus, it’s so close to your home which is very convenient. If only the barn I went to was that close. Well, price wise, where I live (ct) this type of boarding would be EXTREMELY expensive. and I’m not joking when I say this, but barns that are not as good boarding or the same as this go for $1,200+ But, remember, that’s in fairfield county, ct (a very expensive place)
And yes, I would absolutely board my horse there (if I had a horse of my own)
